This information is required for configuration only when BOOTP support is enabled in the TIGER configuration tool in order to properly create a bootptab record. The interface's address at the protocol layer immediately `below' the network layer in the protocol stack. For interfaces which do not have such an address (e.g., a serial line), this object should contain an octet string of zero length. Although it is defined as a writable variable, TIGER may silently discard that information. If the physical address given does not match the actual address, an error message may be shown. For Ethernet interfaces on TIGER, the leading 3 bytes should be: 004003. For Token Ring Interfaces, the leading 3 bytes should be: 0000F6. If you enter only the last 3 bytes of the MAC address, the configuration tool will automatically add the leading 3 bytes.
